Ghetto
'People who knew next day they’d be on a train to the camps, the night before they’d put on the finery and come to a play'.
Set in the Jewish Ghetto of Vilna, Lithuania, in 1942, and based on diaries written during the darkest days of the holocaust, Ghetto tells the story of the unlikely flourishing of a theatre at the very time the Nazis began their policy of mass extermination.
After recent successes including Animal Farm and 1984, and last year’s modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Act One tackles Sobol’s powerful work.
Contains scenes of violence, parental discression advised.
