Filipe de Barros will host West Coast Swing dancing at Bar des Arts, opposite the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Millbrook, on April 28, May 5 and 12 from 8pm.

Filipe, who is a dance teacher and London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony performer, said: “I am delighted to be able to bring my favourite style of dance to the people of Guildford. Those that come along and are fans of ‘R&B’, acoustic, blues and pop music will be in for a real treat as we’ll be dancing to lots of popular tracks.

“There will be two different types of classes on the night. At 8pm until 8.45pm I will be hosting a beginner’s class and will teach people the very basics of swing dancing. After a 15 minute freestyle practice break I will be teaching an improver/intermediate dance class from 9pm until 9.45pm.

“From 9.45pm until 11pm there will be a dance social where everyone can practice their West Coast Swing, catch up with friends or make new ones. I will also be DJing during the social.”

There is a £5 special entry price for people on April 28, which includes entry to both classes and the social dance from 9.45pm.

Entry for the May 5 and 12 classes will cost £8 per person and will include both classes and entry to the social dance.

Anyone wishing to attend the dance social only will need to pay £5.
