The Pool Of Bethesda

Dr Pearce works at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and often stops to gaze at an enormous canvas called 'The Pool of Bethesda' – the painting depicts Christ healing sick believers in the pool in Jerusalem whenever an angel stirs the water.

He’s been having headaches lately and his reality becomes a dizzying journey flitting between the present and the period of Hogarth’s painting. This multi-layered play explores Dr Pearce’s relationship with the women in his life, the sick and most of all himself.
