This talented young quartet, current recipients of Enterprise Music Scotland's Residency award, offer a wonderful programme beginning with one of the quartets that Haydn wrote for the brilliant violinist Johann Tost, and ending with a lyrical quartet that Schumann dedicated to his friend Mendelssohn. The centrepiece is Shostakovich's autobiographical 8th Quartet, a devastating and dramatic work - one of the great quartets of the 20th Century.
