Verdi Requiem
After their acclaimed debut concert at the Sage Gateshead in 2014, the 120-strong Cleveland Philharmonic Choir returns to perform one of the most popular and powerful choral masterpieces – the Verdi Requiem.
Verdi brought to this piece a lifetime of experience of composing opera, and it is full of glorious melodies and dramatic effects. The pounding bass drum in the Dies Irae section is genuinely scary!
Soloists who have performed in international opera houses, a superb orchestra and a chorus with a fabulous sound, conducted by the outstanding John Forsyth MBE, combine to ensure a spectacular performance.
Cleveland Philharmonic Choir
A choral ensemble which sets itself high performance standards and works hard to do justice to the great music it is privileged to sing.
