4 x 4 - Ephemeral Architectures

A sparkling mix of juggling and classical ballet tours the UK.

Following its successful premiere at the London International Mime Festival this January, Gandini Juggling’s latest work 4 x 4: Ephemeral Architectures embarks on a tour of the UK this spring.

In 4 x 4: Ephemeral Architectures, four of Gandini Juggling’s elite jugglers are joined by four classical dancers to explore the company’s love affair with pure patterns and mathematics. Director Sean Gandini is master of ceremonies, creating a highly entertaining construct of fleeting steps and flying objects.

Choreography is by former Royal Ballet First Artist Ludovic Ondiviela and the score is by Nimrod Borenstein, a protégé of Vladimir Ashkenazy. His new composition - Suspended opus 69 – for string quintet is played live by chamber ensemble Camerata Alma Viva. Guy Hoare’s atmospheric lighting completes the picture.

The dancers are Kieran Stoneley, Kate Byrne, Erin O'Toole and Joe Bishop. The jugglers are Kim Huynh, Sakari Männistö, Owen Reynolds and Kati Ylä-Hokkala.
