Performed by three of Scotland’s finest traditional musicians, One Great Circle is a musical tribute to Stanley Robertson, the late Aberdeenshire storyteller, piper, singer, author and member of the Travelling community, composed by Fraser Fifield in his role as Traditional Artist in residence for University of Edinburgh.
Joining Fraser (low whistle/small pipes), the acclaimed fiddle/harp duo, Chris Stout and Catriona McKay, who are well known for virtuosic, explorative performances. One Great Circle has been described by Songlines as “dazzling and exquisite” and by BrightYoungFolk as “Delicate and expressive, adventurous and refined”.
Chris Stout - one of Scotland's leading fiddlers - and Catriona McKay - one of Scotland's most talented, diverse and exciting harp players - need little introduction to traditional music audiences. Performing together for 15 years they perform a breath taking, dynamic and adventurous exploration of traditional Scottish music. Two top young Scottish musicians combine individual virtuosic and creative styles to perform an evening of traditional music.
