About Won't Back Down

A story about a group of American parents who decided to fight the ailing public school system that was failing to educate their children. Jamie (Maggie Gyllenhaal) is a single mother with two jobs who is frustrated by the lack of academic help offered to her dyslexic daughter Malia. In trying to move Malia to another class she connects with once-proud but now weary and conflicted teacher Nona (Viola Davis). They decide to launch a campaign to gain control of the school and turn it around, despite fierce opposition from the school board and union leader Evelyn (Holly Hunter). Jamie starts a romance with a handsome music teacher (Oscar Isaac) who seems to share her enthusiasm while Nona's husband (Lance Reddick) worries that she is fighting a losing battle.
