About West Of Memphis

In 1993, the bodies of three young children were found mutilated in a creek in West Memphis, Arkansas. Local teenagers Jessie Misskelley Jr, Jason Baldwin and Damien Echols were arrested for the crime. Jessie had a habit of getting into fights with other boys and Damien had spent several months in a mental institution. After the initial arrest the police questioned their suspects vigorously: they interrogated Jessie for twelve hours without the permission of his parents, believing that his interest in the occult pointed to his guilt. This was just the start of an eighteen-year-long long ordeal for the West Memphis Three that brought them to the brink of state-sanctioned execution. A catalogue of police errors and conflicting evidence compiled over years of tireless campaigning finally saw the boys' innocence proved in 2010. This documentary details their struggle.
