About The Woman In Black
Harry Potter goes looking for ghosts in this period horror set in the late 1800s. Daniel Radcliffe's first major role as an adult sees him donning impressive sideburns to play Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer. Arthur comes to a remote mist-shrouded marsh town to help sell a run down property, the charmingly named Eel Marsh House. He keeps seeing a terrifying ghostly figure, and vague warnings from locals (including Ciarán Hinds and Janet McTeer) lead him to the story of the woman in black, a vengeful spirit who haunts the area. Every creepy trope possible makes an appearance, including dolls, solemn little girls, clown dolls and musical monkey toys. It remains to be seen if this movie can re-establish Hammer Films as producers of memorable horror for a new generation, but the source novel has a formidable reputation.
