About The Skin I Live In

A sweltering, slightly barmy melodramatic thriller from one of the great talents of Spanish cinema. Antonio Banderas plays Robert Ledgard, a well-respected and successful surgeon who lost his wife in a car accident twelve years earlier. He has since become obsessed with creating a formula for an indestructible synthetic skin, believing that this could have saved his wife. He lives in a palatial, stylish house with his loyal former nursemaid Maralia (Almodovar veteran Marisa Paredes). And he keeps a mysterious, volatile young woman named Vera (Elena Anaya) locked up and under constant surveillance while she sports a skin coloured body stocking. Who she is and what she means to him are slowly revealed as Almodovar weaves a tale of revenge, lust and regeneration.
