About The Pirates: In An Adventure With Scientists

A stop-motion animated film from Aardman Animations that promises silly slapstick action for the kids and sly jokes for their parents. The Pirate Captain (Hugh Grant) is dashing, suave and a bit vain. He has a faithful crew and a trusty parrot (described by one pirate as 'like an auntie...with a beak!') but he's having trouble finding ships that carry gold. He decides to compete for the Pirate of the Year award, given by the Pirate King (Brian Blessed). Cruelly mocked by rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek), he devises a foolproof scheme that involves Queen Victoria (Imelda Staunton), Charles Darwin (David Tennant), biscuits and his crew dressing as Girl Guides. This also features the voices of Martin Freeman, Lenny Henry and Russell Tovey.
