About The Forgiveness Of Blood

An Albanian drama about old traditions clashing with the ideals of the younger generation. Mark (Refet Abazi) sells bread from a cart every day to support his family. One day while taking a shortcut home, he is told by Sokol, the owner of the path, that he must go the long way round. Angry at the seemingly unnecessary snub, Mark returns later with his brother and Sokol is killed. An old Albanian code dictates that a male member of Mark's family must be killed in return for the crime they perpetrated upon Sokol's family. Mark stubbornly refuses to turn himself in when his brother is arrested and his children Nik (Tristan Halilag) and Rudina (Sindi Lacej) have to stay in the house for fear of being attacked in revenge. Eventually, Rudina is given a reprieve so that she can continue the family business, while Nik becomes increasingly isolated and desperate.
