A gorgeously shot, painfully funny film about adolescence. Oliver (Craig Roberts) is a teenager growing up in Wales, desperate to lose his virginity to his girlfriend Jordana. His mother (Sally Hawkins) seems a little too happy that an old friend, a new age self-help guru (the ever excellent Paddy Considine) has moved into the area. Oliver worries that this means the end of his parents' marriage. A coming-of-age story in the vein of 'Rushmore', director Ayoade draws warm, pitch-perfect performances from his cast (including Noah Taylor and Sally Hawkins as Oliver's parents).
