About Safe Haven

Another movie based on one of Nicholas Sparks' slushy romance books, following The Notebook, Dear John and The Lucky One. Familiar ingredients include a conflicted heroine, a noble hero, kissing in the rain and mild peril. Mysterious young woman Katie (Julianne Hough) arrives in a small town, determined not to form attachments as she is running from her past. Unfortunately for her and us, she is not a sociopath and so ends up reluctantly socialising with the townsfolk. One man who particularly catches her eye is Alex (Josh Duhamel), probably because he looks like an underwear model. Alex and Katie start a relationship that no doubt involves long walks on the beach and listening to Mumford & Sons, but their love is endangered when Katie's past catches up with her.
