About People Like Us
While settling his recently deceased father's estate, a corporate barterer discovers some secrets that change his life. Sam (Chris Pine) is in trouble with the Federal Trade Commission after a dodgy deal. His boss advises him to bribe the higher-ups, but Sam has little money of his own. When he hears that his estranged father has died, he grudgingly attends the funeral with his girlfriend Hannah (Olivia Wilde), who wishes he was more caring. He is shocked when he learns that his father left all his money to a stranger, but more bombshells arrive when he tracks down the half-sister he never knew he had. Frankie (Elizabeth Banks) is a recovering alcoholic with a young son, and gets to know Sam under false pretences as a fellow alcoholic while he struggles with his ethical dilemma. Should he give her the money or use it to save himself? And how will she react to the truth?
