About Looking For Hortense

Damien (Jean-Pierre Bacri) is a melancholy professor who makes his living explaining how Chinese businesses work to his fellow Frenchmen. He lives with his theatre director partner Iva (Kristin Scott Thomas) and their son NoƩ (Marin Orcand Tourres). The couple are privleged intellectuals but their intelligence hasn't been able to save their relationship, which has become routine and loveless. One day Iva asks Damien to approach his father, an important politician who he rarely sees, about helping a woman avoid deportation. Damian is reluctant to contact him and is distracted by a burgeoning friendship with Aurore (Isabelle Carre), a young waitress. Iva starts an affair with the handsome lead actor in her play, which angers Damien as he had been struggling with his feelings for Aurore.
