About Jimmy's Hall
In 1921, political activist Jimmy Gralton (Barry Ward) builds a local community hall with the intention that it provide a place for people to dance, drink and socialise. The locals also learn about Communism and other topics through discussion and educational classes at the hall, and the authorities and landowners are unhappy with these developments. The hall is closed down and Jimmy spends ten years in New York. Upon his return, he plans to help his mother run the family's farm. But the local children all implore him to re-open the hall and give them something to do. With the assistance of his neighbours and childhood sweetheart Oonagh (Simone Kirby), Jimmy decides to restore the hall to its former glory.
