About Inside Llewyn Davis
A drama loosely based on the life of '60s folk musician Dave Van Ronk. With regular Coen collaborator T Bone Burnett providing a soulful cadre of authentic original songs, it is also a love letter to a bygone time and place. In the dimly-lit dive bars of Greenwich Village, Llewyn Davis (Oscar Isaac) is an aimless singer with a box full of his unsold records and no fixed abode. He hopes to make it to Chicago to audition for a club manager, but sneers at the burgeoning commercialisation of the folk scene. He enjoys playing with fellow musician Jim (Justin Timberlake) but has been secretly sleeping with Jim's girlfriend Jean (Carey Mulligan). Over the course of the film he has encounters with friends and family who worry that his bad choices and lack of direction might sabotage the rare talent he has.
