A drama about the relationship between famous director Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) and his wife and collaborator Alma Reville (Helen Mirren), set at the time they made his most famous and controversial film, 'Psycho'. Forced to finance the film himself, Hitchcock put everything on the line and ended up shaping the future of horror films and cinema in general. We all know what a classic Pscyho turned out to be, and most people are familiar with Hitchcock's jovial, exacting and odd persona. But this film counters his obsession with young blonde stars and the macabre by giving a new depiction of the devotion and spirit shown by his wife. It suggests that, while surrounded by comely actresses like Janet Leigh (Scarlett Johansson), Hitchcock's creative genius was fired by the woman who stood at his side year after year.
