About Hit So Hard
A documentary about trail-blazing drummer Patty Schemel of the band Hole, featuring a frank appraisal of her hedonistic lifestyle and association with the nascent grunge scene. In 1987 she saw a performance by the band who would later become Nirvana, befriending Kurt Cobain. He later married Courtney Love, who became the lead singer of Hole. As a result of her meteoric rise and time in the band, Schemel became a drug addict and alcoholic. Now in a happier frame of mind and running a dog care service, she reflects on her time in the grunge scene, alongside female musicians like Nina Gordon (Veruca Salt), Debbi Peterson (the Bangles) and Kate Schellenbach (Luscious Jackson) who give their own accounts of what it was like to be different in an environment that supposedly embraced individuality.
