American widow Emily (Diane Keaton) lives a dull, genteel life in north London with middle-aged, middle-class friends (who like ukulele orchestras). When she meets Donald (Brendon Gleeson), a self-sufficient recluse living in a shack on Hampstead Heath, the two become unlikely friends and unexpected late-life lovers. This charming and life-affirming film is rather sickly sweet and unapologetically fluffy, but with outstanding performances from Keaton and Gleeson, this will likely be a hit with the more mature viewers.
