The ultimate femme fatale gets a re-release. In Buenos Aires, small-time gambler Johnny Farrell (Glenn Ford) runs into trouble when he meets a rich stranger Ballin Mundson (George Macready). Finding out that he is the boss of a glamorous, illegal casino, Johnny quickly talks his way into a job. However, things turn sour for Johnny when Mundson brings home a new wife, Gilda (Rita Hayworth). Beautiful and flirtatious, Gilda also happens to be Johnny's ex. Oblivious to this, Mundson asks Johnny to keep an eye on Gilda while he completes shady business deals. Gilda and Johnny's love-hate relationship is only intensified by their close contact. She cavorts with men at all hours, and at one point performs a memorably lascivious dance to 'Put The Blame On Mame' for a roomful of appreciative men. But is she a good girl at heart, or the siren she's made out to be?
