About Dead Europe

A drama about a man attempting to outrun his family's past. Greek-Australian Isaac (Ewen Leslie) is a photographer in Melbourne, always in the middle of riots and street celebrations with his trusty camera but never quite connecting with his subjects. When his father dies and his mother's spiteful rants become too much to handle, Isaac heads to Athens for an exhibition. He takes his father's ashes, intending to scatter them in the mountains where he grew up. An encounter with a young boy (Kodi Smit McPhee) seems to haunt him as he travels from Greece to Budapest, but Isaac doesn't know if he's real or some supernatural reminder of his family's dark history. The Europe that he discovers certainly seems unable to break away from the horrors of the past.
