Many films based on true stories bandy around words like 'astonishing' and 'unbelievable' but in this case you'll wish they just made it up. For almost a decade until he was caught in 2004, a man rang up fast food restaurants in several states, pretending to be a police officer. He would persuade a manager to subject a female employee to humiliating strip searches and have them detained for hours, insisting that the employee was under suspicion of wrongdoing and claiming that it had been confirmed by the restaurant's higher authorities. The film dramatises one of the more horrifying incidents in which Sandra (Ann Dowd) coerces scared young Becky (Dreama Walker) into degrading acts at the command of a voice on the phone. Hard to watch at times, this raises uncomfortable questions about obedience in our society.
