About Chimpanzee
A nature documentary about the lives of chimpanzees from filmmakers who immersed themselves in the animal kingdom of the Ivory Coast for more than a year. Oscar is a chimp orphaned as a baby after his mother is fatally wounded in a confrontation with another chimp. Tim Allen provides cuddly, gag-laden narration as Oscar eats, sleeps, explores and learns to play with other animals. But the jungle is a harsh environment and Oscar is soon in danger as a weak, unprotected juvenile. He encounters a group of chimps whose leader forms a surprising attachment to him and his future looks safer. Children will probably wish that they could take home a cuddly scamp like Oscar, but parents should be warned that the film doesn't shy away from the more violent aspects of the natural world.
