A sharp comedy about parental differences. Two children get into a fight at the playground, so the parents of victim and bully meet to discuss what to do to resolve the situation. This simple, seemingly everyday plot is elevated by a fantastic cast. John C. Reilly plays Michael Longstreet, seemingly affable father of the supposed victim, while Jodie Foster plays his earnest wife Penelope. The other couple are comprised of workaholic Alan Cowan, played by Christophe Waltz, and Kate Winslet as his brittle wife Nancy. These people cannot simply dismiss the incident as a boyhood scrap; they want to prove how civilised they are. This backfires when after discussing their differences politely the afternoon descends into thinly veiled criticism and then all-out verbal war. Even when one couple attempts to leave they find they are drawn back into a savage battle to determine who is right and who is wrong.
