About Before Midnight
This sequel to Before Sunrise and Before Sunset continues the story of Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy). They spent the previous films arguing and falling in love. At the start of this film they are finally together and have two daughters. But after the romance, the anti-romance, the truth-telling and the endless conversations, can their love survive the trials of everyday life? They seem to have a charmed existence in Paris but Jesse, a successful novelist, has a desire to go home to America while environmental activist Celine is wary of of starting all over again somewhere else. He does not push her at first but she recognises his longing; he wants to be closer to his son from his previous marriage. From strolls through the streets to dinner parties with voluble friends, Jesse and Celine battle with each other as they head toward an end - or could it be another beginning?
