About A Monster Calls

12 year-old Conor (newcomer Lewis MacDougall) is not coping with his mother's (Felicity Jones) terminal cancer diagnosis at all. Bullied at school, abandoned by his father and facing the nightmare of living with his straightlaced grandmother (Sigourney Weaver), he finds an unlikely ally when a gigantic tree monster (voiced gravely by Liam Neeson) appears at his bedroom window. Ultimately a tale of healing, A Monster Calls is already being compared to other darkly creative fables such as Pan's Labyrinth, The Iron Giant and the Ghibli films. Be warned: it's a tearjerker. Don't forget your Kleenex. You’ll need it.
