About A Late Quartet
World-famous cellist Peter (Christopher Walken) is the patriarch of a New York string quartet. After 25 years of doing what he loves, his life is changed forever when he is diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He is unsure of whether he should still play with his fellow musicians, but his ailing health seems to cement the decision for him. As Peter struggles with his medical treatment his friends deal with their own crises. Second string Robert (Philip Seymour Hoffman) is at a crossroads in his relationship with his wife Juliette (Catherine Keener) who plays the viola. His daughter (Imogen Poots) is also musically talented but impetuous, and shares a bond with first violin Daniel (Mark Ivanir) which makes Robert uneasy. Petty jealousy and long simmering resentments threaten to tear the group apart.
