Visions Festival returns to Hackney for its seventh year, taking over a number of the area's coolest venues for a day of live music, record fairs and food and craft beer markets.

White Denim

White Denim appearing at this event

A freewheeling indie rock combo from Austin, Texas, White Denim is built around core members James Petralli (vocals, guitars) and Steve Terebecki (bass). Drawing from psychedelic/garage rock, punk, funk, jazz, blues, and prog-rock influences, the group fashioned a hard-hitting sound with crunchy guitar riffs and frantic energy.

Anna Meredith

Anna Meredith appearing at this event

Anna Meredith is a composer and performer of both acoustic and electronic music. Her sound is frequently described as ‘maximalist’ ‘uncategorisable’ and ‘genre-hopping’ and straddles the different worlds of contemporary classical, avant pop, electronica and experimental rock. She performs with her band of classical musicians and a line up of Anna on clarinet and electronics plus two cellists, electric guitar, tuba and drums. Her music has been performed everywhere from the BBC Last Night of the Proms to flashmob body-percussion performances in the M6 Services, PRADA fashion campaigns, numerous films, installations and documentaries, pop festivals, clubs and classical concert halls worldwide and broadcast on Radio 1, 2, 3, 4 & 6.

#Demdike Stare is a project from Miles Whittaker and Sean Canty. Miles is probably better known as Modern Love's DJ MLZ or as 0.5 of Pendle Coven. Sean Canty is the dedicated digger behind the Haxan events and a member of the hugely respected Finders Keepers crew of vinyl vultures. Their collaborative project tracks the sonic leylines of cult soundtracks, Arabesque dubs and psychotomimetic ephemera with a proper Lancastrian twist...

Kedr Livanskiy

Kedr Livanskiy appearing at this event

Moscow's Kedr Livanskiy (real name Yana Kedrina) confesses 'Synthesizers help me maximally feel the present moment'. Livanskiy was born into a shifting and critical time for Russia. She's escaped reality repeatedly in her explorations into the imagery and ideas of romanticism, mythical and fairytale themes which visibly bleed throughout her work.

Imarhan appearing at this event

Imarhan, meaning ‘the ones I care about’, started out around 2008, a loose collection of friends who began to play together. Their reflects their cultural and generational background; dry guitar riffs, pop melodies and pan-African rhythms which draw on traditional Tuareg music, African ballads and the modern pop and rock the band heard growing up.

Orville Peck appearing at this event

Combining the lulling ambiance of shoegaze with the iconic melodies and vocal prowess of classic American country music, outlaw cowboy, Orville Peck croons about love and loss from the badlands of North America. The resulting sound is one entirely his own - taking the listener down dusty rose-colored desert highways; through a world where worn out gamblers, road-dogs, and lovesick hustlers drift in and out of his masked gaze.

Pregoblin appearing at this event

Pregoblin is a collaboration between Alex Sebley and Jessica Winter. There have been a few incarnations of the band but it’s when Alex and Jess met in 2016 it fell into place. Before Pregoblin formed, Alex was a member of The Saudis, alonsgside Lias and Nathan Saoudi, and Jessica is a producer and writer and has worked with members of Gorillaz, Fat White Family, and Dinosaur Pile Up.

Free Love is the latest manifestation of Scottish duo Suzanne Rodden and Lewis Cook (FKA Happy Meals) - a continuation and progression of their utopian dance pop experiments released on Night School Records and Optimo which have seen them nominated for Scottish Album of the Year and performing across the globe. Touring across Europe supporting Liars and The Flaming Lips, and with festival shows as far as Austin, Moscow and Bangalore, the band have become notorious for their sensual live ceremonies. Using a table of all-hardware electronics, Free Love harness a charismatic chaos and unpredictable energy that sets them apart as one of the most exciting artists around.

Scalping appearing at this event

Scalping are the Bristol outfit of James Rushforth, Alexander Hill, Isaac Jones and Jamie Thomas, armed with a battery of squelching synths, animalistic rhythms and gritty, piercing guitars. Scalping craft truly unique music, informed by Hill’s deep knowledge of idiosyncratic electronics, Jones’ tendency towards instrumental hooks, Rushforth’s Bristolian techno and Thomas’ doom metal influences. They formed in 2017 through a love of Bristol’s visionary off-the-wall dance music and full throttle noise and punk.

Solid portion of raw and heavy techno, ranging from noise, electronica and modern world music. Zamilska ia a producer, composer and performer, known to audiences in her native Poland for her transy beats, monstrous bass and stage charisma. She is also a trailblazer in combining sounds that are strictly techno-rooted with catchy melodies and voices belonging to choirs, chants and tribal rituals.

Austria-born but residing in Los Angeles, Gold Star is the solo project of former Sister Ruby Band membere Marlon Rabenreither. He creates timeless anthemic pop-rock songs with nods to Leanoard Cohen and Ryan Adams.
