Noise of Art and Brixton Bloc present The Acid Test Weekender - Part of Noise of Art’s Carnival of Colours events in December. Noise of Art and Brixton Bloc’s Carnival of Colours is a series of pop-up music and art events inspired by the light art, musical experimentation and avant-garde dance and theatre that pre-figured psychedelia in 1966, the events are named after the Beatles first fully electronic song, which was only ever performed once, at London’s first electronic music festival at the Roundhouse. The Acid Test is a weekend of acid house, Balearic indie, cosmic disco and pyschedelic music.
Noise of Art’s celebration of psychedelic art and music turns into a weekend of acid house. Danny Rampling and Justin Robertson, two key figures in the 1980’s acid house explosion, are being brought in to represent the music’s original hotspots at London’s Shoom and Manchester’s Hacienda night clubs - where both were respective residents. Meanwhile the original Balearic darlings, The Woodentops, will be playing tracks from their seminal Giant LP.
