Community Action Nepal’s Mountain Arts Festival
In association with the Royal Geographical Society NW Region

In aid of CAN’s Nepal Earthquake Appeal. www.canepal.org.uk

A long weekend celebrating the importance of the mountains and mountain people in all our lives. Through the work of distinguished painters, walking artists, sculptors, writers, poets, musicians, dancers, photographers, film makers, jugglers, acrobats and other artists, the many ways in which we view the mountains will be presented. Events will include presentations, discussions, an exhibition, creative writing and water colour painting workshops, and a Ceilidh on Saturday evening featuring Striding Edge Ceilidh Band.

Throughout the weekend, Rheged will host a Mountain Bazaar, with a chance to buy books, photographic prints, and Nepalese products and discover demonstrations by Mongolian throat singers, acrobats and jugglers and Herdwick wool weaving demonstrations by the Woolclip.

As part of the festival, on Sunday 8 November, the RGS NW Region are hosting a debate chaired by Lord Inglewood, President of the Uplands Alliance, accompanied by a distinguished panel, on the future of Britain’s iconic hills and uplands. The debate will cover key issues on upland farming and its future, debating whether it will survive the onslaught from conservation, ecology and the control of the state, or be destined to become just a footnote in our island's history.

Friday 6 November - Sunday 8 November 2015 • 10am ?- 5pm • Tickets £20 per person for Friday or Saturday • Tickets £8 per person for Sunday • £35 for weekend ticket • All lectures and films below are included in the price, but must be booked at time of ticket booking on 01768 868000 (*excludes Masterclasses which are £12 per person)

Please note that the evening Ceilidh, masterclasses * and RGS debate are charged extra.
