From the people behind Lovebox and Wilderness festivals comes Citadel - a new one-day event that sets up in Victoria Park this July. Held the day after Lovebox, this new venture aims to be a lot more culturally nourishing and arts driven than most conventional festivals.
Though not strictly a music-led festival, there are some big name bands headlining. Already announced is Ben Howard, who surprised many late last year by building on his folky acoustic debut with the deeper and darker ‘I Forget Where We Were’. Joining them are Bombay Bicycle Club, who firmly cemented their headliner status with a massive Earls Court show late last year. There’s also a second stage, hosted by Communion Records, with acts still to be announced.
Away from the music, there’ll be cerebral distractions provided by Sunday Papers Live, who bring the experience of reading the sprawling Sunday broadsheets to life via talks from guest speakers, arts and workshops (portrait painting, life drawing, clay sculpting, exhibitions & photography), relaxtion and wellbeing (roaming massage & expert therapies mass park yoga sessions), fashion and beauty, sports and gamres including the Citadel Volley Ball Tournament, comedy tent hosted by Underbelly, plus London’s hippest street foodies will be serving up tasty treats to chomp as you chill.
