Bruce Festival 2015

To commemorate the crowning of Edward Bruce as King of Ireland in 1315, the Ulster Scots Agency and Mid Antrim Borough Council in partnership with the NIEA are hosting the Bruce Festival 2015 featuring The Knights of Royal England, Europe’s premier jousting team.

The festival will take place at Carrickfergus Castle, Main Street and Marine Gardens and will take you on a journey through time with a range of medieval events and entertainment including jousting, dramatic re-enactments, street theatre, falconry, traditional storytelling, blacksmith demonstrations, archery, medieval battle workshops and family entertainment. Ulster Scots music, drama, battles and arts and crafts will combine to make a great day out for you and your family.

The Knights of Royal England will be conducting a dramatic jousting tournament on Saturday 30th May at Marine Gardens with an awesome spectacle of chivalry, hand to hand combat, mounted challenges and horsemanship!

The Festival will be launched at an illustrated talk by Dr. William Roulston, Ulster Historical Foundation on Friday 29th May at 4.30pm at the Civic Centre, Carrickfergus. The Ulster Scots Agency, MAG Ulster Scots Academy and Ulster Historical Foundation will also be launching a new Bruce booklet, heritage trail and exhibition as part of the talk. The talk is free and everyone is welcome.

Entry to this festival is free and festival goers can also enjoy free entry to Carrickfergus Castle on 30th and 31st May.
