A Salute to Benny Goodman

It's thanks to clarinet maestro Benny Goodman (the "King of Swing") that jazz was elevated from the dance halls and clubs to the concert platform. During the 1930's Goodman led one of the most popular dance bands in the USA and, during an era of racial segregation, one of the first that was integrated.

Award-winning, charismatic and ever-entertaining band leader Pete Long (Jools Holland Orchestra, Ronnie Scott's Big Band) together with vibes player Anthony Kerr (BBC Big Band and regarded as one of Europe's finest players) recreate the swinging music of The Benny Goodman Quartet and tell the story of this American icon.
