More Stars Than In The Heavens - The Story Of The MGM Musical
Award-winning singer Robert Habermann tells the story and sings the songs from the magical MGM musicals – from humble beginnings with the talkies in 1929 to their unique celebration in the 1974 compilation film That’s Entertainment!
MGM’s first ever movie song ‘Broadway Melody’ was written by MGM’s rehearsal pianist Arthur Freed who later went on to produce some of the greatest film musicals ever made – Singing in the Rain, An American in Paris, Kiss Me Kate, Annie Get Your Gun, High Society and Gigi – as well as writing many famous movie songs: ‘Temptation’, ‘Good Morning’, ‘You Were Meant For Me’ and ‘Broadway Rhythm’.
Robert Habermann also tells stories of the stars who appeared in these films; Judy Garland, (The Wizard of OZ ), Gene Kelly ( Singing in the Rain), Fred Astaire (Easter Parade) Frank Sinatra (High Society) and many more known to lovers of the MGM film musical.
