Hollie McNish
Spoken word poet who by early 2014 had released two poetry albums, Touch and Push Kick, both to critical acclaim - with the latter prized for contributions to maternal research by the University of London. At a time when the live entertainment industry is saturated with acts that are formulaic and predictable, internationally acclaimed poet and spoken word artist Hollie McNish is a breath of fresh air. Reciting words of love, politics, race, breasts and all that comes in between, Hollie’s poems captivate and move audiences to feel something that is sorely lacking in the industry today. Coming 1st in the UK Slam Poetry Finals and 3rd in the World Poetry Slam Finals, Hollie broke into the mainstream via the Internet – two of her videos ‘Mathematics’ and ‘Embarrassed’ have gone viral on YouTube, reaching over one million views in just over a week. She has received high praise both online and in print, garnering accolades including ‘Internet Sensation’ (Best Daily) and ‘Chick of the Week’ (MTV). In the words of poet Benjamin Zephaniah, "I can’t take my ears off her."
