Word Kitchen Prose Night

This show was rescheduled from 10th September 2024.

This is the first of our open mics for the autumn. We would like to encourage writers to take part who don?t necessarily have an extract from their novel or a short story ready to read. We are calling this the 500 word challenge.

Perhaps you want a break from a work in progress, or want to experiment with a piece of flash fiction or something such as an internal monologue of a character or description of a particular place and where you want us to know more about the environment of the story.

So, as part of the evening. we?d like to ask people to tell a story in 500 words in five minutes. Why not use the time ahead to generate some new words? To feel free to roam a bit and to try out a different writing style which distils a story into a couple of pages of double spaced A4.
