Celebrate the return of the nightingales with this special late-night live broadcast.
Join us on a journey deep into the Sussex woods, and discover the unmistakable sound of the nightingale.
On 12th April folk singer and author of ‘The Nightingale’ Sam Lee will be nestled in the nightingale’s habitat, beaming this live broadcast to you as the nightingale begins his famous mating call.
This audio pilgrimage will weave in a series of remarkable duets with the nightingale’s song, including invited special guests and public offerings, as we mark this special moment in the calendar with extraordinary music. We’re delighted to bring the magic of music and nature to you in the comfort of your own home.

Sam Lee is a folk singer, promoter and animateur. A naturally gifted voice, Sam is fast becoming accepted as a new pioneer, defining the sound, sight and texture of contemporary folksong. With his live band, Sam Lee and Friends, he carves a new acoustic with homemade and mongrelised instrumentation using unconventional and contemporary arrangements that challenging preconceptions of what 'traditional folk' should sound like. He is a former Mercury Prize nominatee, song collector, promoter (of BBC award winning Nest Collective) radio host, TV personality, teacher and animateur.
