Chihuly Nights

Experience the majestic quality of Dale Chihuly's colours and forms when his glass artworks are illuminated under the evening sky. Relax as you stroll around Kew Gardens after dark - both out in the Gardens and inside some of the glasshouses and galleries - and enjoy a rotating line up of live musicians to compliment the atmosphere.

If you time your visit just right, you can watch the sun set over Kew Gardens and see Chihuly's artwork glow under the evening sky.

Enjoy beautifully elevating music commissioned by Guest Artists, and based on a composition by acclaimed composer Nico Muhly. The music features wind instruments and the human voice to reflect Chihuly's use of breath in creating his artworks, and the glass used in many of Kew's own iconic structures. Other composers and live musicians will respond live to Muhly's music during Chihuly Nights to create original and ever-changing soundscapes inside Temperate House and the Pavilion Bar and Grill to enhance your visit. Featured artists include the UK's only glass harmonica player, Alasdair Malloy. Chihuly Nights visitors will also have the opportunity to add your own sounds to the composition, making for a truly immersive experience.
