Bach's Magnificat
“My soul doth magnify the Lord!” Johann Sebastian Bach contemplates God, and his imagination catches fire: even he never wrote anything more joyous and more richly inspired than his Magnificat. Two famous cantatas and the resplendent Orchestral Suite No.3 provide the upbeat to this celebration by Ex Cathedra and the CBSO of one of music’s most beautiful minds.
The concert opens with Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott, which Bach based on one of Martin Luther's most famous hymns, as Ex Cathedra mark the Reformation Day 500 anniversary.
