All I've Known, inspired by writer and director Rachel Yates’ own childhood growing up in a family that fostered children over many years, is the story of a now grown up son, with children of his own, who is ready to reconnect with the family that loved him deeply.

'When you've have a child from that young, and you go through so much with them, you don't ever not think of them as yours. I remember the smell of him, the way he was and everything about him. And so it was amazing for him to come back.'

Rachel, having spoken to other people with their own stories to share, weaves together excerpts from these interviews to create the backdrop for this moving and poignant new play.

All I've Known is a revealing and uplifting picture of family life, told using Chickenshed's characteristic physical style.
