William Golding’s Lord of the Flies is a 20th century masterpiece, as relevant today as it was on its publication in 1954.Itexamineshumanity’s terrifying capacity for self-destruction.
The Lord of the Flies stage play, adapted from the novel,was first performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1996. It is a violent tale about the breakdown of civilised behaviour in a setting of isolation and fear.
This production, by The Thursday Night Project makes us look at Lord of the Flies with new eyes. An exciting ensemble of adult actors shows how quickly small cruelties can escalate. More than just pig’s blood will be spilled.
