Abi Roberts Takes You Up The Aisle: Abi Roberts
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the world. During August, the Royal Mile becomes the city's most colourful and exciting artery when the vibrant theatre and street performers become the face of the festival, with tourists flocking from the world over to queue up for a glimpse of some bohemian mastery.
During the festival the Royal Mile is pedestrianised and completely closed to traffic. Performers from far and wide pour into Edinburgh to fire throw, sword swallow, try a new tune, or chain themselves to themselves! A wheelin' and spinning carnivale world comes to life in Edinburgh when August hits.

Abi Roberts and her big hair exploded onto the stand-up comedy scene in 2011. She was a Finalist and Runner-Up in the London Comedy Store's Costa Light Comedy Competition in 2012, a Finalist and Runner-Up In the 2012 Harrogate Theatre's Comedian of the Year and took the Audience Award at the same festival. She is a regular weekend act at comedy clubs such as The Glee Club, Jongleurs, The Stand, Bearcat Comedy and Lee Hurst's Backyard Comedy Club, as well as the major independent clubs, such as Crack, The Kings Head, Rip Roar Comedy, Comedy Central at Baby Blue and The Frog and Bucket, Manchester.
"Roberts is brilliant, funny and charming. She's a true comedy genius and one of GQ's Top Ten newer stand-ups you must see' (GQ Magazine)
'Raucous and incredibly funny' (The Daily Telegraph)
"Truly and hysterically funny, Roberts has definitely got the moves. She does it all with genuine charm and character, with big laughs. Abi talks entertainingly, then takes apart Loose Women and she completely, superbly annihilates it. She uses her vocal skills to mock and her Jane McDonald impression is worth seeing alone. Likewise her take on Celine Dion is brilliantly done - clever, funny and well performed. Roberts has an imposing range of talents, she gives a little song too and her impressions are, well, impressive. She really is more than just a stand-up." - Chortle
"Dangerous and hilarious and the very opposite of consensus comedy...(Roberts) has raw but relatable originality and a preternatural comfort with herself onstage and is she is unstoppable. She bounds onstage, robust, already laughing, nimbus of blond hair aswirl, genuinely happy to be there – it’s the rest of life that’s almost unbearable - and takes down target after target, rapid-fire, infectious: the porn-like fantasy of the cooking show, the depredations of shape wear. She’s a master of self-deprecation but doesn’t hinge on it. She has a very graphic bit about her iPod being on shuffle, and she kills with it." - New Statesman, Arts (review of tour support for Michael McIntyre).
"Fast-paced, high-octane comedy with brilliant routines... entertaining throughout and leaves everybody wanting more" (http://www.Gigglebeats.co.uk)
