Uncover the stories of Buddha's previous lives before he reached enlightenment. It is said that he told these tales - of which there are around 550 in total - as part of his teaching, with each story illustrating a quality of the path to nirvana. The Jatakas are among the world's oldest collections of tales, and although they are not well known in the West, they are celebrated in art, literature and modern media in Asia, as well as being retold in ritual and festive contexts.

Storytellers Steve Killick & Mark Rivett retell a selection of these tales in a show that captures the spirit of the Jatakas. The show will be introduced by Jataka scholar Naomi Appleton from the University of Edinburgh, with a short Q&A after the show.
