Wojtek Bear Ice Hockey Cup

We hope you have heard about the Wojtek Memorial Trust. If not, please allow us to introduce to you the Second World War Hero – Wojtek the Bear. Wojtek was a Persian orphan bear, who became a Polish soldier and helped the allies during Second World War and ended up in Scotland. Simon Thompson – the CEO of Chartered Banker Institute and the Chair of the Wojtek Memorial Trust said that the Wojtek’s story is a part of a much bigger story, how men and women fought alongside, without their families and friends, and we believe this story should be spread and honoured. You can find more details about the trust onwww.wojtekmemorialtrust.com .

What we are trying to do is to raise money for the Wojtek Memorial Trust, so the Wojtek’s Monument can be placed in Princes Street Gardens on the 70thAnniversary of the End of Second World War. So far, the Trust has raised two thirds of the required funds. Golden Eagle Scotland invented a project to help raise the money for the Wojtek Memorial Trust, which received a very warm welcome from the Trust founders. We are organizing Ice Hockey Cup in four cities in Scotland – Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow. The themes of the games will be focused on Wojtek’s history. The gathered money from sold tickets will help with the fulfilment of the Wojtek Memorial Trust Statue Project. Moreover, we aim to improve Polish-Scottish relationship and educate children, youngsters and adults about the amazing story that Wojtek lived through.
