Ashes To Ashes

Eastbourne Under Ground Theatre is delighted to present Lost in Space’s production of Harold Pinter’s play “Ashes to Ashes” directed by Neil Brown.

In the living room of a pleasant house in a university town outside London, Devlin, threatened by his wife Rebecca’s recollections of an abusive ex-lover, questions her endlessly in his need for a single truth. In her seamless blending of what she knows of violence with the wider violence of the world, Rebecca reveals an eerie communion with the dead victims of unnamed political barbarities.

Harold Pinter CH CBE (1930-2008) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. “In his plays he uncovers the precipice under everyday prattle and forces entry into closed rooms”. In “Ashes to Ashes” Pinter explores the themes of truth, memory and violence, taking the audience on a tightrope of emotion in an intense period of real time. ‘…extraordinarily powerful…elusive, mesmeric, disturbing’ (The Guardian).
