Music For A Mid Summer Evening
Please note: Info provided by the Event Organiser
Following their delightful evening last year Eira/Snow return to Craswall. A collaboration between Caractacus Downes and Lyndon Owen, multi-instrumentalists who combine influences from Celtic to Arabic, with Spanish and Eastern European references; a true fusion from two players who have a long standing and close understanding. This enthralling and eclectic musical palette of sounds is conveyed by both the use of conventional instruments, saxophone and double bass, and less familiar instruments such as Armenian Douduk, Turkish Mey and Zurnah, Hungarian Tarogato, electronic tanpura and range of percussion.
Eira/Snows’s acoustic approach has given them access to Churches, Castles and Sacred Places, providing an intimate and unique performance platform. However, they are no strangers to much larger events such as Brecon Jazz Festival, and playing on BBC3’s Bedroom Stage, at the acclaimed Lattitude Festival. Past performances have been received enthusiastically and left audiences enraptured. Now, pushing new boundaries both musically and geographically, the duo will be bringing their unique sound to other areas of Wales and the U.K. The opportunity to experience the enthusiam and mastery of these two talented and skilled musicians is not to be missed. Their empathy for each other and their instruments is palpable; their creative horizons boundless.
"Eira/Snow’s pieces are primarily folk tunes with infectious melodies and strong grooves and an essential simplicity that ensures that they remain accessible no matter how far the band may push them." (Review - The JazzMann, January 2017)
