Armonico Consort, Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra

Young people from the AC Academy Choirs will join Armonico Consort’s professional singers and the Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra to perform this extraordinary work, made famous most recently by The X Factor, to create a spectacular event.

Inspired by a large collection of secular poems from the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, the German composer Carl Orff completed Carmina Burana in 1937 and described it as a 'scenic cantata' made of 'songs for soloists and choruses, accompanied by instruments and magic images'.
